MARYLAND –

Tens of thousands of people are expected to travel to Maryland this summer. This is why state police are reminding drivers about important traffic laws to keep our highways safe.

Police first mentioned seat belts. Authorities say everyone must buckle up.  Secondly, law enforcement say Move Over Law is one people tend to forget. One law that mainly applies to visitors deals with rental agreements. If you’re driving a rental car, your name must appear as an authorized driver of the vehicle. However, police say the biggest violation they see over the summer is a result of distracted driving.

First Sergeant David Dalfonso says, “We have a lot of rear end collisions. People are not paying attention. People are texting on their cell phones. When you’re driving, please just give all your attention to driving. A lot of these accidents can be avoided.”

If those laws mentioned are violated, you get anything from fines to points on your license.  You also cannot only cause an injury to yourself or someone else, but even death.
